‘Pablo’ – Thames Tosher Tugboat. 36ft x 10ft x 4.6″ draft. 20 ton deadweight. Gardiner 180hp. Airdraft 7ft. Circa 1950.
Pablo is currently out of the water and being stored at the PLA facility in Denton, Gravesend, Kent. Visually it has had plates welded covering the entire hull. We understand that the engine was started prior to lifting out. (Some History Available)
‘De Pablo’ – Thames sailing barge. Riveted swim-ended lighter/punt, 60ft x 14ft x 2ft draft. 30 ton deadweight, retractable mast. (Similar to barges used in the annual Thames barge race). Air draft mast retracted 8ft. Circa 1910.
‘De Pablo’ is currently moored mid stream alongside ‘Z6’ at Foley House near the 02 Arena. This vessel appears watertight, but requires restoration or repair. Note some contents require disposal as per images.
‘Angelica’ – Thames sailing barge. Riveted swim-ended lighter/punt, 60ft x 14ft x 3ft draft. 30 ton deadweight, retractable mast. (Similar to barges used in the annual Thames barge race). Air draft mast retracted 8ft. Circa 1910.
‘Angelica’ is moored alongside at the PLA facility in Denton, Gravesend. Requires lifting and restoration as has been taking on water. Note some contents require disposal as per images.
‘Wendy’ – Thames Wheat, Lighter Barge. Welded swim-ended lighter 120ft x 30ft x 3ft draft, 250 ton dead weight. Airdraft 14ft. Open-topped garden barge, there is four 3m x 2m windows cut into the starboard side. Circa 1973.
‘Wendy’ appears to list to one side. However, this is deliberate with the installation of a 2.5 ton counterweight to replicate a tide in a past art installation. There are contents which are mostly for scrapping and disposal as per images. Note: Window openings have had plates welded to the bottom in preparation of being towed. Location is currently mid stream Battersea Church but may be moved.
‘Lin’ – Thames Wheat, Lighter Barge. Welded swim-ended lighter 120ft x 30ft x 3ft draft, 250 ton dead weight, Airdraft 14ft. Circa 1973.
‘Lin’ contains a large former floating pontoon that was polished and set up as an art installation called a ‘Water Tractor’. This barge has had industrial corrugated roof sheeting placed over to make an enclosure. Two 2m x 1m doors cut into hulls side on aft end of the hold for ease of access. Contents are as per images. Location is currently, moored mid stream at Chalk Stones.
‘Hope’ – Lighter Barge. Riveted swim-ended London canal lighter, converted as motor barge/house boat. 86ft x 16ft x 3ft draft, Airdraft 15ft. 200 ton deadweight. Blue superstructure with windows either side, wheelhouse & davits. Circa 1930.
‘Hope’ is a former motor cruiser sitting inside a canal lighter barge and converted into 3 self contained apartments, each with a lounge/sitting area, bedroom, WC, bath/shower, galley area and wardrobe storage. Internally she has good space and accommodation, externally she requires some repair and renovation. Location is currently, moored mid stream at Foley House.
‘Z6’ – Box Barge. 60ft x 25ft x 4ft draft former docking pontoon for HM Britannia, converted former welded lighter, swim ends removed. Airdraft 8ft, windows installed fore and aft through former collision bulkheads. Circa 1965.
‘Z6’ has been extensively fitted out internally to provide good living accommodation that includes 3 good sized bedrooms, (1 with walk-in wardrobes), 2 Bathrooms (1 shower/1 bath), office/study, large lounge/sitting/kitchen diner. All areas benefit from light tunnels to the top deck. The galley area is fitted with a range of cupboards and has Miele oven/hob & extractor, Siemens dishwasher, stainless steel fridge freezer. There is oil fired central heating throughout. Externally ‘Z6’ would benefit greatly from restoration and repair as per images. Location is currently, moored mid stream at Foley House.
‘Artic Sun’ – Steel Dumb Barge, 90′ x 25′ x 10′. Modified barge, suitable for conversion or adaptation. Thought to be circa 1970.
‘Artic Sun’ was adapted and used as an art studio/exhibition. Within the enclosed space are numerous items for clearance as per images. Location is currently, moored mid stream at Foley House.
‘Bayberg’ – Steel Dumb Barge, 90′ x 25′ x 10′. Modified barge, suitable for conversion or adaptation. Thought to be circa 1970.
‘Bayberg’ was adapted and used as an art studio/exhibition. Within the enclosed space are numerous items for clearance as per images. Location is currently, moored mid stream at Foley House.
‘Miscellaneous’ – Pontoons & assorted gangways including ‘Diamond Jubilee Bridge’, consists of landing stage, pontoons, floats and steelwork to floats. The component sections of this pontoon have been moved and stored in various locations either moored mid stream or placed into the open barges.
