This week we welcomed a new member of staff ‘for work experience’
This week we welcomed Zak to the team as he completed his work experience with us in the busy world of Auctioneering. Among, working with the team in our usual day to day, Zak also managed a trip out on a valuation with Garry Wisdom to experience life in a poorly lit, archway premise, among smelly expiring food.
As part of his experience, we also asked Zak to write this blog for the website, so in his own words (mostly) ...........
"As part of my work experience, this week I have been lotting, this is where you number an item, take a photo of it and then write a description, usually on a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. This catalogue then gets put on the website and when it comes to the selling/auctioning people can see and read clearly about the item before bidding.
I have helped to lot different items this week, with I.T equipment, barber shop/salon equipment, catering equipment, electric car equipment & designer shoes. I was moving goods from the shelves, taking photo's and then putting them back on the shelf in number order so they are easily found.
I have only been here for a week but have enjoyed my time very much. The staff here have made me very welcome and have treated me like an adult in a real work environment. There are some bold characters in this company, but they know when to have a laugh and when to get on with work. This job is very tiring but, very enjoyable and for me it has been more of a life experience rather than work experience.
Being from Cornwall it’s not as busy and working with completely different people than I normally would be. I'm doing completely different skills because going from being in a school sitting in a classroom to working in a business environment and it's totally different. I believe that this job will create you as a person and build your personality".
