G.J Wisdom & Co – Wild in Art & The Bidpath Foundation

In Memory of Christopher Tucker – Daniel Blackaby

G.J Wisdom & Co are Commercial Auctioneers based in Orpington, Kent. We have been trading since 1987, and primarily provide Valuation & Auction Services to: HMRC, Insolvency Practitioners, High Court Enforcement, Banks and Commercial Landlords.

We are a family-run business, founded by Garry Wisdom, and now headed by, Shane Wisdom. As the business has grown, so has our dedicated team, and we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional service to our clients.

When we were approached by George Wade at Bidpath, to take part in the Wild in Art Gavel Trail, in collaboration with the Bidpath Foundation, we were only too pleased to get involved.

We were invited to sponsor a 100cm gavel sculpture, designed and painted by an artist of our choice. The sponsorship is to raise funds for three exceptional charities: The Brain Tumour Charity, The National Brain Appeal, and ICPCN (International Children’s Palliative Care Network).

We are proud to support these charities, having lost two of our very close friends’ children to Brain Tumours at a young age, and watching as a third friend’s son, James Crossley, battled to survive his brain tumour.

James went on to be the British Paracycling National Champion, competing in the Velodrome and riding against Sir Chris Hoy and remains an inspiration to us all. He recently got married and, despite his disabilities, he doesn’t let anything stop him living life to the full.

Together with other National Auctioneers, who also came forward to take part in the scheme, from September, all individually designed gavels will be on display in their associated premises for ‘The Gavel Trail’, raising awareness and donations to support Wild in Art and The Bidpath Foundation.

Not only did we want to support these charities, we wanted to choose a young up and coming talented young artist for our G.J Wisdom & Co Gavel:

Millie Wicker aged 17, from Birmingham is studying at a specialist art school, completing an extended BTEC in Visual Art and Design and further looking to study Fine Art at University. Millie came up with a wonderfully vibrant design, and the finished gavel will be proudly displayed in our offices at from 1st September – 30th October 2025.
